RCMP CHILLED WATER AND LAWN IRRIGATION SYSTEMS, REGINA

A 200 ton chilled water system that utilizes ground source well water as condenser water through plate type heat exchangers, allowing for a closed chilled water loop system and then utilizing the reject condenser water for lawn irrigation.

OWNER: RCMP

CLIENT: RCMP

GENERAL CONTRACTOR: Mechanical Design Group

Mechanical Systems: A seasonal cooling system that incorporated plate type heat exchangers to provide a closed chilled water loop to allow the water to be treated to maximize the life of downstream chilled water system components. Ground sourced well water was utilized as the condenser water. From two existing deep well pumping systems, the ground source water is first passed through the heat exchangers and then stored in a large storage tank to be used for lawn irrigation on the large RCMP depot site. Variable frequency pumps and the building’s automated control system were used to maintain pressure and temperature. With only the pumps requiring the use of electricity and no natural gas needed, this system provides measurable energy savings.
